Congress of Polish Engineers
25-27 September 2020 - Imperial College LondonEngineering over borders
About Congress
The Congress of Polish Engineers in the United Kingdom, held to mark the 80 th anniversary of the incorporation of STP, is going to explore the challenges and opportunities of engineering in our dynamically changing world. It will be a forum for engineers from across the British Isles and beyond to share their experiences and views on how to take advantage of these changes.`
Change is the only constant in our dynamic world
When the Association of Polish Engineers in Great Britain (STP) was established during WWII its main goal was to support the war effort, but it had to evolve to help its members to adapt to a new reality. When it was expected to slowly decline at the turn of the century, a new wave of migration arrived and injected fresh life into the organisation. Now, we are again entering a new era which presents both challenges and opportunities.
Who is Congress for?

Professional engineers at various levels of experience

Engineering researchers, scientists, innovators who want to promote new technology solutions

Engineering companies and technological startups willing to share their expertise and gainnew ideas

People seeking contacts for engineering experts from areas such as civil engineering, construction, IT and new technologies
These days digitization affects almost every part of our lives, offering people new abilities and promising a better world. The unprecedented pace of technological progress requires engineers to constantly learn in order to keep up. New markets are continuously created while the “old” ones are being disrupted. Business as usual is no longer possible.
Technological advancement is accompanied by social and cultural changes. Modern engineers are expected not only to be experts in their field but should also demonstrate interpersonal and soft skills. More and more female professionals are entering engineering, which was traditionally a male- dominated environment. Companies are embracing new ways of working, people management and interdisciplinary collaboration. Migration is no longer a lifetime choice…
